About the firm

Built at the intersection
of strategy and execution.

Calstins was founded on the observation that the gap between thinking and building is where technology initiatives fail. We exist to close that gap.

Our story

Shaped by the products we have shipped.

Calstins is a software and IT advisory agency in Abuja, Nigeria, led by founder Caleb Opule.

Our story is best told through the platforms we have planned and built: online shops, logistics systems, event and hospitality software, and point-of-sale tools for Nigerian and international businesses.

Below is a selection of that work. It is the same approach we bring to registration, branding, websites and growth: understand the business first, then build what it actually needs.

Our journey

How Calstins has evolved.

  1. E-commerce

    A multi-country coffee platform

An online coffee business serving Nigeria, Togo, Benin and Italy, with country-based admin roles, local and international payment gateways, and English, French and Italian content.

  2. Events

    Ticketing, seating and voting

An event platform for ticket sales with guest checkout, invite-only events with seating arrangements, voting contests and ticket scanning at the door.

  3. Youth and mobile

    A challenges app for teenagers

A React Native mobile app with a Next.js admin: task submissions, badges, community leaderboards and push notifications.

  4. Logistics

A Nigerian delivery and shipping platform

Zone-based pricing, a shipment state machine, a dispatcher dashboard, claims, support tickets and loyalty rewards.

  5. Retail

Point of sale and online grocery

A grocery POS and storefront with barcode weighing-scale integration, safe stock deduction and role-based access, later extended into a multi-tenant POS platform.

  6. Hospitality

    Hotel software and multi-branch sites

Multi-tenant hotel management software, and a multi-branch hotel website with bookings, per-branch content and payments.

How we work

Principles that drive every engagement.

01

Integrated, not siloed

Strategy and execution happen together, not in sequence. We don't hand off a plan and disappear. We're embedded throughout delivery, making the hard decisions alongside your team.

02

Commercial rigour first

Every architectural and vendor decision is evaluated through a commercial lens. Technology is a means, not an end. The business model drives the build, not the other way around.

03

Long-term by design

We structure our engagements to stay. The retainer model isn't an upsell. It's how we deliver the most value. Institutional knowledge compounds over time; handoffs lose it.

04

Honest counsel

We'll tell you when your idea won't work. We'll tell you when the vendor you're considering is the wrong choice. Our value comes from being right, not from agreeing with you.

05

Complexity as a feature

We work best in environments others find too hard — regulatory constraints, multi-system integrations, legacy migration, sensitive data. Complexity is where the moat gets built.

06

No surprises

Milestones, decisions, and risks are surfaced early. We don't believe in heroics at the end of a project. Predictable delivery is a discipline, not an accident.

Our approach

Four phases. One relationship.

  1. 01

    Discover

We begin with your business model, not your brief. Market validation, regulatory mapping, technical feasibility, and competitive landscape — all of this before any architecture is drawn.

    • Business model and viability analysis
    • Regulatory and compliance pathway
    • Technical feasibility and constraint mapping
  2. 02

    Strategise

A clear blueprint before a line of code. Architecture, vendor selections, team structure, and a delivery timeline built around real milestones, not aspirational dates.

    • Architecture and build plan
    • Vendor and partner selection
    • Milestone and delivery framework
  3. 03

    Build

Embedded throughout delivery — guiding the team, managing vendors, making the hard calls. We don't disappear after the kickoff.

    • Engineering oversight and delivery
    • Vendor and third-party management
    • Quality and compliance checkpoints
  4. 04

    Retain

Post-launch, we transition into a strategic retainer — owning the roadmap, monitoring the landscape, and staying ahead of what comes next.

    • Fractional CTO and product ownership
    • Ongoing IT and infrastructure management
    • Quarterly performance and strategy reviews

Company details

The gap between strategy and execution is where projects fail.

Most firms choose a side. They either think or they do. Calstins was built specifically to operate at the intersection of commercial rigour and delivery discipline. That's where the work actually gets done.
